Step 7: Configuring the schedule

Configure the schedule policy of the migration plan, including the trigger time for full migration, the execution method for incremental synchronization, and the cutover method. The SCHEDULE OVERVIEW panel on the right side of the page displays a summary of the currently selected configuration in real time for confirmation.

Full migration (Phase I)

Configure the start time for full data transfer:

  • Start immediately: After the plan is created and saved, the controller immediately schedules workers to start full data transfer.
  • Start at a scheduled time: Configure a specific start time for the controller to schedule the full migration task. To avoid affecting the service window, it is recommended to schedule full migration to start at a specified time.

Incremental sync (Phase II)

After full migration is complete, if the source virtual machine is still running, you can trigger incremental synchronization in either of the following ways:

  • Manually sync incremental VM data: After full migration is complete, manually start incremental synchronization on the migration plan details page.
  • Automatically sync incremental VM data on a schedule: The controller will start incremental synchronization automatically at the configured interval within the specified time window.
    • Sync interval: Configure the automatic synchronization interval with a minimum of 1 hour.
    • (Optional) Trigger only within a specified time window: Once checked, you can set a time window in which automatic incremental synchronization can be triggered. The controller will perform automatic synchronization only within this window and will not trigger synchronization outside the time window.

Cutover (Phase III)

Cutover always uses the Manually shut down the source VM method, and therefore no further configuration is required in this phase. After incremental synchronization is complete, you can trigger cutover manually on the migration plan details page. For details, refer to the Cutover section.

After confirming that all configurations are correct, click the confirm button (āœ“) on the upper-right side of the wizard. After the migration plan is created, the page will redirect you to the migration plan list.

Information:

  • If migration task creation fails, resolve the issue based on the error cause prompted on the page and try again.
  • If a migration task fails because CBT is not enabled for snapshots of the virtual machine, delete all snapshots from the virtual machine as prompted, and then perform the migration again.
