Step 3: Selecting virtual machines

Select the virtual machines for this migration from the source site.

Procedure

  1. In the inventory tree on the left, expand the data center and cluster nodes to browse the resource structure of the source site. Click a node, and the list on the right will display the virtual machines hosted on the node.

  2. In the list on the right, search and filter the required virtual machines in the search box by virtual machine name.

  3. Checked the required virtual machine on the left of a virtual machine row to add it to this migration. You can also check Select all on this page at the top of the list to select all available virtual machines on the current page. The upper-right corner displays the current number of selected virtual machines.

    Note:

If the source virtual machine runs on a VMware ESXi platform, ensure that the virtual machine version is not earlier than 7.0. Otherwise, migration plan creation will fail.

If a virtual machine already has a running migration task, the Reason column of this row in the virtual machine list is grayed out and cannot be selected. In this case, the column will prompt This VM already has an active migration task.

  1. After completing selection, click the arrow in the upper-right corner of the virtual machine list. In the panel, you can view the list of selected source virtual machines as well as their total storage and memory.

  2. Click the arrow icon (>) on the right side of the top wizard bar to proceed to Step 4: Assigning virtual machines to the target cluster.
