Pre-migration checks

After deploying Arcfra Migration Tool, you need to perform the following checks to ensure a successful virtual machine migration:

Checking the browser

Confirm whether the Google Chrome browser is downloaded for accessing Arcfra Migration Tool's web page.

Checking the DNS server

If ESXi hosts in the cluster are added by domain name, ensure that DNS servers are configured in Arcfra Migration Tool to resolve domain addresses. For information about how to configure DNS servers, refer to the System configuration section.

Checking the CPU compatibility

If Arcfra Migration Tool is deployed on a cluster using the AVE virtualization platform, ensure that the CPU compatibility of the virtual machine where Arcfra Migration Tool is deployed is set to Host passthrough, or the virtual machine meets the minimum microarchitecture requirement specified in the table below. If Arcfra Migration Tool is deployed on a cluster using the VMware ESXi virtualization platform, you need to ensure that the CPU compatibility of the virtual machine where Arcfra Migration Tool is deployed meets the minimum microarchitecture requirement specified in the table below.

server CPU architecture of the cluster hosting the virtual machineMinimum microarchitecture requirement
Intel x86_64Sandy Bridge
Hygon x86_64Opteron_G4

If the virtual machine does not meet the requirement, refer to the following steps for configuration:

  1. After confirming that the virtual machine is in the Shutdown state, select the virtual machine from the virtual machine list to open its details panel.
  2. In the Advanced section of the details panel, click Edit to the right of CPU compatibility to open the Edit VM CPU compatibility dialog box.
  3. In the dialog box, select Specify CPU compatibility for the VM., and then select Host passthrough or the corresponding microarchitecture according to the table above.
