    Overview

Arcfra CloudMove is a tool designed for cross-platform migration of business hosts, supporting the migration of virtual machines or physical machines from various source platforms to the Arcfra Virtualization Engine (AVE) platform.

    Product features

    • Broad compatibility

Arcfra CloudMove supports migrating business hosts from any virtualization platform, cloud platform, and physical machines with no limitation on hypervisors. It only has compatibility requirements for operating systems, offering a broader range of application scenarios and wide compatibility.

    • Migration without downtime

Arcfra CloudMove can provide Continuous Data Protection (CDP) for the source host during migration, enabling online migration of entire physical machines or virtual machines.

    • Migration automation

During migration, the control center of Arcfra CloudMove automatically creates target virtual machines in the target cluster, enabling automated migration from the source host to the target virtual machine with minimal manual intervention and high automation efficiency.

    Product components

Arcfra CloudMove mainly consists of the following components:

    • Management interface

The management interface is a web-based graphical management interface which can be used to create, configure, manage and monitor the migration plans. You can access the management interface via a web browser remotely.

    • Control center

The control center manages migration plans in hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments through communication with the agent and the management interface. It records all information about source hosts to be migrated, migration plans, backup destinations, and account information, while also being responsible for managing all migration plans, including creation, configuration, monitoring, and other operations.

    • Agent

The agent is the core component of the migration solution, which needs to be installed on all source hosts and virtual appliance machines involved in migration plans. The agent on the source host will load the volume level CDP driver automatically. The agent and the driver work together to capture the data changes on the source host, send and receive data over the network, write data to block devices on the AVE platform, and manage and configure virtual resources on the AVE platform through APIs.

    Migration principle

After the migration plan is executed in the control center of Arcfra CloudMove, the agent of Arcfra CloudMove loads a volume-level driver on the source host, continuously captures production data changes, and backs up the source host's data to the virtual appliance machine in the target cluster. At this time, the virtual volume is mounted on the virtual appliance machine, and a target virtual machine is created on the target cluster with the same computing resources as the source host but without a disk. The agent will synchronize data from the source host to the target virtual machine in real-time using Continuous Data Protection (CDP), with a data latency of approximately two to three seconds between the source host and the target virtual machine. When performing the switch on the migration plan, the virtual volume is unmounted from the virtual appliance machine and mounted to the target virtual machine. When mounting is complete, the target virtual machine will automatically start.
