Adding migration sites

Before creating a migration plan, add the source and target cluster sites on the SITE MANAGEMENT page. The controller connects to the corresponding platforms by using the addresses and credentials configured in the sites to obtain virtual machine information and execute migration tasks.

Prerequisite

  • Obtain in advance the username and password of a VMware vCenter user that has the administrator role for the virtual machines to be migrated.

Procedure

  1. Click SITE in the left sidebar to go to the site management page.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the SITE MANAGEMENT page, click + Add site, and select a site type from the drop-down menu:

    • VMware vCenter: Select this option when the source cluster is deployed on the VMware ESXi or VMware ESXi vCenter platform.
    • Arcfra VM service cluster: Select this option when the target is an ACOS (AVE) cluster. It can also be used as a source site.
  3. In the Add site dialog box, enter the following information correspondingly:

    VMware vCenter site

    ParameterDescription
vCenter IP address or domain nameEnter the IP address or domain name of the vCenter platform. The port is prefilled with 443 when Enable encrypted connection is checked and 80 when Enable encrypted connection is not checked. You can also manually change the port number.
Enable encrypted connectionCheck this option if the specified port is an encrypted port.
Administrator usernameEnter the username that has the administrator role for the virtual machines to be migrated.
    Administrator passwordEnter the corresponding password.
    (Optional) DescriptionEnter site remarks.

    Arcfra VM service cluster

    ParameterDescription
Cluster IP addressEnter the management virtual IP address of the cluster. The port is prefilled based on whether Enable encrypted connection is checked: 443 when checked, or 80 when not checked. You can also manually change the port number.
Enable encrypted connectionCheck this option if the specified port is an encrypted port.
    Administrator usernameDefaults to root.
    Administrator passwordEnter the corresponding password.
    (Optional) DescriptionEnter site remarks.
  4. After entering the information, click ADD SITE. If adding the site fails, the lower-left corner of the dialog box will prompt the failure cause, such as failed query or authentication. In this case, troubleshoot based on the prompt and try again. For details, refer to What should I do if adding a site fails?.

After a site is added, you can edit or delete the site. The site can be deleted only after the related migration tasks are deleted or archived.

Information: After a site is added, site synchronization for remote workers is automatically completed within 30 seconds. Before creating a migration plan, confirm that at least one online worker has both the source and the target site mounted. You can view the site mounting status of each worker on the WORKERS page.
