Among all Windows operating system versions compatible with AVE virtual machines, only Windows Server 2003 exclusively supports IDE bus and does not support Arcfra VMTools. Therefore, after installation, you must manually load the NIC and memory drivers.
Prerequisite
In the virtual machine details panel, click Start to start the virtual machine.
Click Terminal to open the terminal. Refer to the official Windows Setup documentation from Microsoft to complete the installation of Windows Server 2003.
After the operating system is installed, proceed with the following steps to install the NIC driver and memory driver for the virtual machine.
Select Ethernet Controller in the Device Manager list. Right-click and select Update Driver. Follow the prompts in the pop-up Hardware Update Wizard dialog box and click Next.
When selecting the location to install the driver, check Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next.
In the pop-up dialog box, check Include this location in the search and click Browse. In the pop-up Browse for Folder window, select the virtual disk where the Arcfra VMTools ISO image is mounted. Navigate through the folders in the following order: driver > NetKVM > 2k3 > amd64. Click OK.
Click Next to begin loading the NIC driver for the virtual machine. After the installation is complete, a prompt box will pop up. Click Finish. After successful installation, you can view the network adapter in the Device Manager list.
Double-click the virtual disk with the Arcfra VMTools ISO image loaded. Copy all the Balloon folders in the driver folder to the root directory of the C drive.
Select PCI Device in the device manager list. Right-click and select Update Driver. Follow the prompts in the pop-up Hardware Update Wizard dialog box and click Next.
When selecting the location to install the driver, check Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and then click Next.
In the pop-up dialog box, check Include this location in the search, click Browse, select the C drive, and select Balloon > 2k3 > amd64 folders in order, and click Ok.
Click Next, and the virtual machine will start loading the memory balloon driver. After the installation is complete, a prompt box will pop up. Click Finish. After successful installation, you can view VirtIO Balloon Driver in the device list.
Run CMD with administrator privileges, go to the directory where the Balloon driver is located, and execute the blnsvr.exe -i command.
After the command is executed successfully, you can verify that the Balloon Service is running in the Windows service list.

If the virtual machine uses the QXL graphic adapter, you need to install the QXL driver after the operating system is installed to enable QXL support. For detailed procedure, refer to the section on Installing the QXL driver on Windows virtual machines.
