An alert is an event report automatically generated by the system when a specific event occurs. The presence of an alert message indicates that the system has detected an anomaly, and the operations personnel need to take appropriate measures to resolve the alert to avoid serious impact.
The alerting capabilities are provided by in-cluster basic monitoring or observability services.
Basic monitoring delivers alerting features based on clusters. When an alert occurs to a cluster, basic monitoring will output the alert information.
In addition to monitoring and alerting the cluster, an observability service can also monitor and alert its associated system services and itself, offering a wider range of alert options. When using the observability service to deliver the alerting features, you must first associate the alert object with the observability service. For specific operations, refer to the Management > Managing observability services > Associating the observability service with a cluster and Associating the observability service with system services section.
Once done, the observability service can be used as a unified alert output for multiple clusters and multiple system services.
Furthermore, AOC provides comprehensive alert rules for clusters and system services. When the resource usage of the virtual machine of the corresponding cluster or system service reaches the configured threshold or a specific event occurs and triggers an alert rule, an alert message will be generated.
You can then configure SMTP email alert notifications, SNMP traps or webhook notifications to send the generated alert message to a specified email address, third-party client or webhook receiver.
