Enabling IOMMU

IOMMU is a component in the memory controller that translates the virtual addresses of a device into physical addresses. When the virtualization platform is AVE, you can enable host IOMMU. Enabling IOMMU is a prerequisite for a virtual machine to directly access hardware devices. If you need to use SR-IOV, port PCI passthrough, GPU passthrough, or vGPU functions, follow the steps below to enable IOMMU.

  1. In the AOC host list, click the ellipsis (...) on the right of the target host, and select Enable IOMMU.

  2. In the opened Enable IOMMU dialog box, click Enable, and the host's IOMMU status will change from Not enabled to Pending reboot.

  3. In the host list of the cluster, click the ellipsis (...) on the right of the host and select Reboot.

  4. After rebooting the host, the host's IOMMU status will change from Pending reboot to In effect.
