When the ACOS cluster is deployed on the VMware ESXi platform, ABS operates as a storage service running on SCVM. It utilizes the NFS protocol to expose ABS storage objects as NFS directories/files and provides a standard NFS access interface externally. VMware ESXi accesses the NFS service via a private network and mounts the NFS Export to ESXi hosts by creating data stores, making it available for use by virtual machines.
