Enabling RDMA for the storage network

Prerequisite

  • The cluster must be in a stable running state, namely no cluster change tasks are in progress for this cluster in the Upgrade center, and no hosts in the cluster are entering or in maintenance mode.

  • The virtual distributed switch used by the storage network should meet the following requirements:

    • The associated virtual distributed switch does not include any other system networks.
    • On each host node, all physical NICs associated with the virtual distributed switch support RDMA, and the RDMA NICs operate in RoCE mode.
    • On the virtual distributed switch, if a host has multiple network ports associated, the network port bonding mode needs to be active-backup or balance-tcp of the OVS bonding type.
    • The virtual distributed switch is not associated with the ANS distributed firewall feature.

  • The storage network has no QoS policies enabled, and the VLAN ID is 0.

Precaution

It is recommended to enable storage network RDMA and configure traffic control for RDMA during business idle time.

Procedure

  1. On the AOC cluster page, select a cluster and click All > System network to access the System network page.

  2. Click ... to the right of the storage network and select Enable RDMA.

  3. In the confirmation dialog box, click Enable RDMA.

    You can click the ellipsis (...) > View details in the Task center to check the execution progress of enabling RDMA in the storage network.

    After RDMA is enabled successfully, refer to configure traffic control for RDMA. If the operation fails, resolve the issue as prompted on the page and then click Retry.

Related step

To disable RDMA, click ... to the right of the storage network and select Disable RDMA. You can click the ellipsis (...) > View details in the Task center to check the execution progress of disabling RDMA in the storage network. After the status is successfully disabled, you can delete the flow control configuration for the RDMA feature as needed. Any retained configuration does not affect the proper functioning of the storage service.
