When the ACOS cluster is deployed on the VMware ESXi virtualization, ABS operates as a storage service on the SCVM. It uses the NFS protocol to present ABS storage objects as NFS directories or files, providing a standard NFS access interface. VMware ESXi accesses the NFS service via a private network and mounts the NFS Export as a datastore on ESXi hosts, making it available to virtual machines.
