Monitoring options

In general, ACOS provides monitoring and alerting capabilities for clusters by default using the basic monitoring provided when the cluster is deployed, and some clusters also support the use of the advanced monitoring application or the monitoring capabilities of an observability service for comprehensive monitoring and management of clusters. If you require a third-party platform for monitoring, you can also interface with the Zabbix monitoring platform.

Using default basic monitoring

The monitoring and alert capabilities provided by basic monitoring rely on the CPU, memory, and storage resources reserved by the system. When the amount of collected data is about to reach 1 GiB of system memory, the monitoring capability will be downgraded accordingly, and some relatively low-priority monitoring data will be removed to maximize the availability of critical monitoring and alerts.

Using advanced monitoring

For ACOS (VMware ESXi) clusters, you can use advanced monitoring to extend the capabilities of basic monitoring. Advanced monitoring provides the same monitoring capabilities as basic monitoring, but offers longer data retention, and allows customization of CPU, memory, and storage resources for the advanced monitoring virtual machine when deploying advanced monitoring in the cluster.

The advanced monitoring application runs as a virtual machine and is installed using a separate installation file. To deploy advanced monitoring for a single cluster, or select multiple clusters compatible with the same advanced monitoring version for batch deployment, refer to Deploying advanced monitoring of the corresponding version.

Using the observability service

For ACOS (AVE) clusters, you can use the observability service to extend the capabilities of basic monitoring. The observability service provides more stable data collection and storage capabilities, as well as richer monitoring and alert capabilities, and also support unified processing of data from multiple clusters.

For information about how to monitor and analyze the ACOS (AVE) cluster through the observability service, you can refer to Managing observability services of the corresponding version.

Interfacing with the Zabbix monitoring platform

The ACOS cluster connects to Zabbix, a third-party monitoring platform, by configuring SNMP transport to enable monitoring of the ACOS cluster on the third-party platform.
