Editing the volume pinning mode for NFS files

Volume pinning is a storage optimization strategy available in clusters with tiered storage (including clusters deployed with hybrid-flash and all-flash tiered storage). When it is enabled for NFS files, data remains in the cache layer, ensuring consistently high performance. It's recommended to enable it for disk files of virtual machines that require stable high performance.

Prerequisite

The cluster has volume pinning enabled.

Procedure

  1. In the NFS export list, click the NFS export name to open its details panel.

  2. In the File tab, edit the volume pinning mode for NFS files.

    • Batch editing the volume pinning mode for multiple files:

Check one or more files, click Edit volume pinning mode, and then select whether to enable it in the pop-up dialog box.

    • Editing the volume pinning mode for a single file:

Click the file name, and in the details panel on the right, click Edit volume pinning mode. Then select whether to enable it in the pop-up dialog box.

  3. Click Save. Once enabled, files originally with thin provisioning will automatically be adjusted to thick provisioning.
