Configuring the notification silence policy

Creating a notification silence policy

Prerequisite

The clusters and system services that require configuring a notification silence policy should have the observability service associated.

Precaution

  • Only alert notifications delivered through the observability service can be silenced while in-cluster email notifications are not affected by the silence policy.
  • As the observability service cannot be configured as silence objects, alert notifications related to traffic and the observability service itself cannot be silenced.

Procedure

  1. In the left sidebar of the AOC Alert page, select Notification policy and in the upper-right corner on its page, click + Create policy > Create notification silence policy. You should see the pop-up Create notification silence policy dialog box.
  2. Specify the name for the policy.
  3. Select the silence object. You can select multiple silence objects of different types at the same time as needed.
  4. Set the end time for the silence policy.
    • Never: Once selected, the alert notifications will be silenced permanently.
    • Set time: Once selected, the alert notifications will be silenced until the specified time.
  5. Determine whether to enable the policy (enabled by default). Once enabled, the policy will come into effect immediately after creation.
  6. Click Create.

After creation, if there is an enabled silence policy in the list, the top of the datacenter management page in the AOC Cluster page will prompt which objects have silence policy enabled. You can click Go to close to navigate you back to the silence policy list and edit the policies.

Editing or deleting a notification silence policy

  1. In the left sidebar of the AOC Alert page, select Notification policy.
  2. In the silence policy list, click the target policy. In the pop-up detail panel, you can click Edit or Delete to complete the corresponding operation.
