ABS supports creating multiple physical disk pools on a node, with each physical disk pool corresponding to one instance. In this mode, you can allocate dedicated CPU cores and memory resources for each physical disk pool to handle their respective storage tasks. This enhances the overall peak IOPS and bandwidth the node can deliver overall.
The multi-instance mode offers excellent isolation; a physical disk failure in one physical disk pool does not affect the availability of services in other physical disk pools. At the same time, ABS distributes data blocks across different physical disk pools on a node as evenly as possible. Regardless of how many physical disk pools are deployed on a node, there is always only one replica of any data block on that node. This ensures that data security levels are not compromised by deploying multiple physical disk pools.
