Upon a fresh installation of ACOS, the corresponding kernel version is used by default. However, during an ACOS upgrade, the kernel does not automatically update but should be manually updated.
If the target version's kernel is different from that of the current version, follow the Kernel update history to upgrade as required.
This section introduces how to manually upgrade the kernel via the command line. If your cluster version supports upgrading via the upgrade center, refer to Arcfra Upgrade Center operation and maintenance to complete the automatic kernel upgrade.
Upgrade notes
For ACOS clusters deployed on the AVE platform, if a node already has the vGPU driver installed, update the driver to match the new kernel version after upgrading the kernel.
Prerequisite
The cluster upgrade is complete.
Precaution
For ACOS (AVE) clusters, ensure that the dynamic resource scheduler (DRS) is disabled before upgrading the kernel to prevent automatic virtual machine migration during the upgrade process, which could affect the upgrade procedure. To disable the DRS of the current cluster, go to the overview page of the cluster and select DRS. Once the upgrade is complete, you can re-enable the DRS.
After the upgrade, restart the physical host to implement the upgrade changes. The system may experience a brief I/O interruption, but it will not affect normal business operations.
