The Windows operating systems supported by AVE virtual machines can be categorized into the following two installation scenarios, depending on the type of system disk bus selected during installation, whether or not the Arcfra VMTools is supported, and whether or not the driver still needs to be loaded manually after installation:
Scenario | System disk bus (OS installation) | Whether to provide support for Arcfra VMTools | Whether you need to load the driver manually after installation | Typical version |
---|---|---|---|---|
Scenario 1 | VIRTIO/SCSI/IDE bus | Yes | Unnecessary | Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 R2 |
Scenario 2 | IDE bus | No | Need to manually load NIC and memory drivers | Windows Server 2003 |
Note:
Except for Windows Server 2003, if the customer has no special requirements, it is recommended to use the VIRTIO bus to install the Windows operating system for the virtual machine.
To facilitate understanding, the following selects a typical operating system version for each of the above two scenarios and describes in detail the process and steps for installing the operating system. Before installation, refer to AVE Compatibility Guide released with the software version as well as the table below to confirm which scenario the Windows operating system version to be installed belongs to, and the version of virtio-win
