Deploying Arcfra Migration Tool

Arcfra Migration Tool consists of two components:

  • Controller: A unified management platform that provides a web console and is responsible for creating migration plans, scheduling, and status monitoring. Each environment requires one controller deployed.
  • Worker: A data transfer node that performs the actual data migration. Each environment can have multiple workers deployed to improve concurrent transfer capability.

After deployment, both the controller and worker are ready. After completing system initialization and login, you can access the controller console.

Arcfra Migration Tool supports the following two deployment methods:

Arcfra Migration Tool can be deployed on a virtual machine in the source or target cluster. To accelerate data transfer, it is recommended to deploy it in the source cluster.

  • Deploying through an ISO image file

Create a virtual machine in the cluster, mount the ISO image file, and install Arcfra Migration Tool manually.

  • Deploying through OVF files

Directly import a virtual machine with Arcfra Migration Tool installed through OVF files. No manual installation is required.

    Information:

Deploying through OVF files is more efficient. However, in the following scenarios, you can only deploy Arcfra Migration Tool through an ISO image file:

    • When you need to customize some configurations of the virtual machine, including disk size, boot mode, and more.
    • When the cluster on which Arcfra Migration Tool is to be deployed does not have an AOC instance associated.
