Configuring the NTP server

The observability service supports configuring NTP servers for periodic time synchronization to keep the time of the observability service virtual machine synchronized with your target calibration time. Time offset between the observability service and its associated cluster, or between the observability service and AOC can lead to inconsistencies between the metric timestamps recorded by the observability service and the actual times when the cluster generates these metrics, which, in turn, can result in an inaccurate display of monitoring charts in AOC. Therefore, it is recommended to configure the same NTP servers as AOC for each observability service.

Prerequisite

Available NTP servers have been already set up.

Procedure

  1. Log in to AOC, enter the System configuration page, select Observability in the sidebar, and click Settings in the upper right corner.

  2. In the pop-up management window, select a deployed observability service and choose Service time. The service time page displays the current time of the observability service and provides a time configuration input box for NTP server.

  3. Specify the NTP server addresses in the input box. It is recommended to specify a minimum of three server addresses and separate them with half-width commas (,).

    Information:

It is recommended to configure the same NTP servers as AOC to ensure that AOC's monitoring charts can display accurate monitoring data.

    • If AOC already has NTP servers configured, the NTP server addresses configured by AOC will be displayed below the input box. Click Enter to its right to fill the NTP server addresses into the input box.

    • If AOC does not have NTP servers configured, you can click Configure below the input box to navigate to AOC's NTP server configuration page, and specify the NTP server addresses to complete AOC's NTP server configuration.

  4. Click Save.

After configuration, when the observability service fails to connect with the NTP server or time is not synchronized, the system will generate an alert on the Alert page. You can resolve this alert according to the solution provided.
