Planning IP addresses

Obtain the following IP addresses from the network administrator before deployment:

IP address Distributed firewall Network load balancer VPC networking
The management IP address, subnet mask, and gateway for each Arcfra network controller
The management VIP address for ANS
The management IP address, subnet mask, and gateway for each load balancer virtual machine
The CIDR block for the internal subnet
The start IP address, end IP address, subnet mask, and gateway for each TEP IP pool
The management IP address, subnet mask, and gateway for each edge gateway virtual machine
The CIDR blocks and gateways for external subnets

When allocating IP addresses, the network administrator must follow these rules:

  • The management IP address of the Arcfra network controller and the management VIP address of ANS are in the same network segment, and both addresses are connected to the IP address of AOC.

    • To use the distributed firewall feature, you must ensure that the management IP address of the Arcfra network controller is also connected to the management IP addresses of all hosts in the clusters to be associated with the distributed firewall.
    • To use the VPC networking feature, you must ensure that the management IP address of the Arcfra network controller is also connected to the management IP addresses of all hosts and edge gateway virtual machines in the clusters to be associated with VPC networking.
  • The management IP addresses of the load balancer virtual machines must be able to communicate with each other.

  • For TEP IP address and internal subnet planning, refer to Planning VPC networking.

  • The IP addresses cannot overlap with any IP address within the following CIDR ranges:

    • 169.254.0.0/16
    • 240.0.0.0/4
    • 224.0.0.0/4
    • 198.18.0.0/15
    • 127.0.0.0/8
    • 0.0.0.0/8
