Installing the VirtIO drivers on a Linux virtual machine

Prerequisites

  • For virtual machines using Linux VirtIO drivers, the kernel version must be 2.6.24 or later.
  • Disable all anti-virus or intrusion detection applications. You can enable them again after the VirtIO drivers are installed.
  • Set the bus type of all virtual disks to IDE. To change the bus type, refer to steps 1 to 3 in Installing the VirtIO drivers on a Windows virtual machine.
