A volume is the fundamental data structure exposed by ABS. It can correspond to a virtual machine's volume, or to a LUN in iSCSI. You can create virtual machines or add disks to virtual machines through volumes. All these operations are performed based on storage volumes, and the volume parameter allows you to operate directly on storage volumes.
