Host storage network fail-slow

Description

The cluster continuously monitors the connectivity quality of the storage network between hosts. When a host's packet loss rate or latency is significantly higher than that of others, the host is automatically quarantined to avoid impact on services.

Alert message

  • The host { .labels.hostname } has a fail slow and is being automatically quarantined.

  • The host { .labels.hostname } has a fail slow.

Impact

The affected host may have high latency or packet loss, or may be unable to send or receive traffic, which can impact the performance of virtual machines running on the node.

Cause

The host's storage network may enter a fail-slow state due to the following reasons, resulting in degraded communication quality with other nodes.

  • NIC or driver failure

  • Optical module failure

  • Failure or congestion on the upstream link connected to the NIC

Solution

Refer to the troubleshooting steps for the network packet loss or high latency alerts. The alert will disappear automatically after the network issue is resolved.
