The ANS distributed firewall uses a software-defined approach to provide networking and security functions for virtualized data center networks. Fully decoupled from hardware, it enables flexible management and dynamic control of networking and security, and achieves separation of data forwarding from control. It consists primarily of a management plane, a control plane, and a data plane. The three plane components operate independently and work together seamlessly through an API server. In addition, ANS provides network security capabilities for Kubernetes Pods.
