CAPI follows the machine immutability principle, which means that changes to cluster or node configurations are implemented by rebuilding nodes. AKE extends CAPI and implements in-place updates of cluster and existing node configurations without rebuilding nodes based on Arcfra virtualization and the node configuration proxy addon, reducing update time and avoiding negative impacts caused by node rebuilding. Currently, AKE supports in-place updates in most configuration scenarios, such as hot expansion of node resource specifications and editing K8s cluster configurations. In addition, AKE still retains node rebuilding capabilities such as node replacement and automatic replacement of faulty nodes.
