Use cases

Asynchronous replication and recovery applies to the following scenarios:

  • Disaster recovery

    Prevents large-scale data corruption and loss caused by natural or human-made disasters, ransomware attacks, terrorist events, and other incidents. When a disaster occurs, services can be quickly switched to the disaster recovery cluster and restored rapidly.

  • Disaster recovery drill

    Performs disaster recovery drills through failover tests to simulate rapid recovery after a disaster. This helps ensure the effectiveness and reliability of the disaster recovery plan and verify whether restore points are recoverable.

  • Data center migration

    Migrates service systems and data to the disaster recovery center by using asynchronous replication and failover. Before switchover, you can perform a final replication to reduce data loss. After the switchover is complete, you can physically relocate the source data center hardware, ensuring that service systems are decoupled from the underlying hardware infrastructure.

  • Data reuse

    Uses the cluster-native snapshot reconstruction capability to reuse data. By reconstructing resource objects from snapshots of replica objects for development, testing, troubleshooting, and other activities, you can avoid affecting the production environment. Data reuse provides developers and test teams with an efficient and isolated environment without affecting primary services, accelerating development and testing while ensuring the stability and security of the production environment.
