Configuring the rack topology

Before configuration

Before configuring the rack topology, you should familiarize yourself with the information about the hosts, chassis, and racks in the data center where the ACOS cluster is deployed, and accurately record the following information in AOC as the topology structure.

  • The placement and topological relationships of the hosts, chassis, and racks.

  • The equipment heights of the hosts, chassis, and racks, as well as the layout of hosts within the chassis.

Adding a rack

  1. On the AOC cluster page, click a cluster, then select All > Rack configuration from the tab bar.

  2. (Optional) If the ACOS cluster is an active-active cluster, configure the racks for both availability zones in sequence.

  3. On the Rack configuration page, click Create > Add rack in the upper right corner. In the pop-up Add rack dialog box, specify the name and height.

You can select 42, 32, 24, or 22 as the rack height, or enter a custom value.

  4. Click Add to add the rack to the cluster.

In the task center, you can check the adding progress and check whether the rack has been successfully added to the cluster.

Adding a chassis to a rack

  1. On the Rack configuration page, click Add chassis at the bottom of the target rack.

  2. In the pop-up Add chassis dialog box, specify Rack position for the chassis. The system will automatically display the position range of the chassis in the rack based on the specified chassis height.

  3. Create a new chassis or select an existing chassis that is not added to any rack.

    • Create new chassis: Specify the Chassis name, Chassis height, and Chassis layout.

      Parameter Description
Chassis name The name of the chassis, which must be unique.
Chassis height The space that the chassis occupies in the rack. You can select 1U, 2U, 4U, or 8U.
Chassis layout The row and column layout within the chassis, which determines the maximum number of hosts that can be added to the chassis.
Layout preview The preview of the chassis based on the chassis height and layout. When you change the chassis height or layout, the preview updates simultaneously.
  4. Click Add to add the chassis to the rack.

In the task center, you can check the adding progress and check whether the chassis has been successfully added to the rack.

Adding a host to a chassis

  1. Based on the actual position of the host in a chassis, click the plus (+) in the corresponding position in that chassis on the Rack configuration page.

  2. In the pop-up Add host dialog box, select a host to add to the chassis.

  3. Click Add.

In the task center, you can check the adding progress and check whether the host has been successfully added to the chassis.
